The Common Sense Media site http://commonsensemedia.org provides tons of useful information for parents, students, and teachers. There are some very helpful videos and "lesson" plans that can also serve as guides for discussions with students or simply give you ideas about topics to discuss. I think you'll find this site helpful.

The Georgia ICAC Task Force's web site with information about cyber safety for families, teachers, and others in the community.

This site has a lot of interesting information including cyber safety tips for different age students and resources about the Internet for parents as well as Cyber safety Curricula for school or home use. http://www.familyinternet.info/Teachers_Curriculums.htm# http://www.Archive.org

http://waybackmachine.org/ This is an interesting site to go to with your child to show that web pages never die, they just get archived. So information put on a web page can live forever. (They're revamping the site and it's in Beta right now so it can be quirky.)

Parental Controls

The best parental controls are when we as parents talk and listen to, work with and set a great example for children. The goal is for them to learn and commit to standards for Internet behavior and safety. The only truly effective controls are the ones within the individual.

However, because parents still often ask about controls, here are links to some.
